About the Journal

The Journal of Linguistic Research (JLR) is a biannual scientific journal published by the Faculty of Literature and Humanities at the University of Tehran. Based on letter No. 30656/11/3/90 dated 18/02/90 from the Commission of Scientific Publications of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, it has been awarded scientific-research status.

Aims and Scope

JLR aims to publish research articles in the fields of theoretical linguistics, applied linguistics, historical linguistics, ancient Iranian languages, and studies on various modern Iranian languages and dialects. The journal covers a wide range of linguistic issues, including language teaching, linguistics, semiotics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, and pragmatics. It also welcomes book reviews.

To enhance its indexing prospects in international databases, articles by international authors and co-authors are prioritized for review and publication.

History

The Journal of Linguistic Research is recognized as a scientific-research journal by the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. Its goal is to advance research in the field of language and linguistics, focusing on new and contemporary studies. Key priorities include the development of the Persian language in line with global linguistic achievements, original theoretical and applied research, and innovative, problem-based analyses grounded in original hypotheses and field works.

Before 2009, linguistic papers of the Faculty of Literature and Humanities at the University of Tehran were published within the general Journal of the Faculty of Literature. To specialize the publications of the faculty, the journal was divided into five distinct journals. The Journal of Linguistic Research was one of them, launching its first specialized issue in Spring/Summer 2010 under the founding editorship of Prof. Ali Darzi and managing directorship of Prof. Manouchehr Akbari. The journal has continued its publication under subsequent editors and is currently led by Editor-in-Chief Prof. Gholamhossein Karimi Doostan.
