راه‌کارهای رفع التقای واکه‌ها در پارسی باستان

چکیده
التقای واکه‌ها وضعیتی است که هیچ همخوانی میان واکه‌ها یا، به بیانی فنی‌تر، میان هسته‌های دو هجای مجاور وجود نداشته باشد. این وضعیت هنگامی روی می‌دهد که از دو هجای مجاور، هجای سمت چپ فاقد پایانه و هجای سمت راست فاقد آغازه باشد. هدف مقالۀ پیشِ رو مشخص کردن چگونگیِ رخداد  التقای واکه‌ها در بازنمایی واجی و راه‌کارهای رفع آن در بازنمایی آوایی در زبان پارسی باستان است. خط میخی پارسی باستان یک سامانۀ نوشتاریِ هجانگار  با 36 نویسه است که از این میان 22 نویسۀ آن همخوان- واکه‌ای، یعنی شامل توالی یک همخوان و واکۀ /a/  به صورت /Ca/ می‌باشند. طبق یافته‌های این پژوهش،  چنان‌چه در یک واژه  در پی هر یک از این 22 نویسه سه نویسۀ واکه‌ای i (/i/)، u (/u/)، و A (/A/) وجود داشته باشد، در بازنمایی واجی التقای واکه‌ها رخ می‌دهد. در این مقاله که در چارچوب نظریۀ بهینگی (پرینس و اسمولنسکی، 2004 /1993) انجام شده است، تحلیل شده که التقای واکه‌ها در پارسی باستان با بهره‌گیری از دو راه‌کار درج همـخوان میـانجی  و حذف واکۀ /a/  و آمیزه‌ای از این دو راه‌کار  برطـرف مـی‌شود. در این پژوهش محدودیت‌هایی که در قالب رتبه‌بندی‌های مختلف عامل رفع  التقای واکه‌ها بوده‌اند معرفی شده‌اند . نیز طبق یک قاعدۀ تلفظیِ پارسی باستان اگر نویسۀ واکه‌ای A نخستین نویسۀ یک واژه باشد، در برخی واژه‌ها به صورت [A]  و در برخی دیگر به صورت [a]  تلفظ می‌شود. ولی اگر این نویسه، نخستین نویسۀ یک واژه نباشد، فقط به صورت [A]  تلفظ می‌شود. از آنجا که تبدیل این قاعده به یک محدودیت مستلزم دسترسی به اطلاعات نویسه‌ای بود و امکان نداشت بتوان مسئله را با یک تحلیل صرفاً واج‌شناختی تبیین کرد، یک محدودیت نویسه‌ای طرح شد که تعیین می‌کرد اگر نویسۀ A نخستین نویسۀ یک واژه نباشد، به صورت [a]  تلفظ نمی‌شود، بلکه فقط به صورت [A]  تلفظ می‌شود.  نتایج این پژوهش چندین مورد است که افزون بر طرح واقعیت‌های جدیدی پیرامون واج‌شناسی پارسی باستان مواردی را پیرامون فرایندها و راهکارهای رایج در برطرف کردن التقای واکه‌ها در پارسی باستان بیان می‌کند.

Hiatus Resolution Strategies in Old Persian

چکیده English

Hiatus is a situation in which there is no consonant between the nuclei of two adjacent syllables. It occurs when the left syllable lacks a coda and the right one lacks an onset. The present research aimed at analyzing how hiatus occurs in Old Persian and the strategies used to resolve it. The old Persian cuneiform is a syllabary consisting of 36 graphemes, of which 22 represent a sequence of a consonant and the vowel /a/. According to the findings of this research, if this vowel is followed by one of the three vowels /i/ (I), /u/ (u), and /A/ (A) in a word, then there occurs hiatus in the underlying representation. In this research which is conducted within the framework of Optimality Theory (Prince and Smolensky, 1993/2004) it is discussed that hiatus in Old Persian is resolved using intervocalic consonant insertion, the deletion of vowel /a/ as well as a combination of them both. In so doing, the constraints and their rankings that cause all these hiatus resolving strategies in Old Persian are introduced. It is worth mentioning that based on an Old Persian pronunciation rule, in case the vowel letter A is the first letter of a word, it represents the vowel /a/ in some words and the vowel /A/ in some other words. However, if it is not the first letter of a word, then it only represents the vowel /A/. As converting this rule to an OT constraint required accesses to the graphematical information of Old Persian cuneiform and that it could not be explained using an analysis that was solely phonological, an orthographic constraint with access to the graphematical information was formalized. The results of the present paper explain some important and new facts regarding Old Persian syllabary, hiatus and its resolution strategies in this ancient language.
